Kiss Rock Vegas (KRV), the first full length concert video release from the band in nearly a decade and celebrates KISS’s historic 2014 - nine show run at The Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas.
KRV is a big, flashy and an immaculately produced show with pyrotechnics a plenty that gives KISS fans or concert goers everything they could ever ask for. The Blu-ray is encoded with a 1080i transfer in 1.78:1; although there are some variable levels of sharpness, the show still looks great. The close-ups of the band members are excellent: you can see the saliva bubbles on Gene Simmons' iconic tongue, ahem, if you pay attention to those sorts of things... However, the most impressive aspect of the Blu-ray set is the multiple audio settings at your disposal (Dolby TrueHD 7.1, LPCM 2.0, DTS- HD Master Audio 5.1 and Dolby Atmos), perhaps making KRV one of the best sounding concert releases from KISS.
As an added bonus, there is a 7 song acoustic set, proving once again that beyond the lights and explosions, KISS can write some darn catchy songs.
If you’re a KISS or rock fan, you owe it to yourself to watch this spectacle once in your life. The show looks and sounds great. My only minor concern with this package is that I hoped that during their nine day run, the band would have changed the set list and included the different songs onto the Blu-ray release.
Besides the very few minor issues with KRV, this is an excellent package. So if you’ve been waiting for the right release from KISS in order to play on your home theatre system, I have no doubt that this is the quintessential concert package to pick up. I highly recommend KRV for KISS or rock fans.
