Lindsey Buckingham/Christine McVie (2017)

Long-time collaborators and Fleetwood Mac members have released their first album as a duo. The album is simply called Lindsey Buckingham / Christine McVie and the 10 track release is now available on CD, vinyl and all digital and streaming services.

When you hear the name Fleetwood Mac, it commands attention because they were propelled into superstardom for two reasons. Firstly, releasing some of the greatest emotionally driven pop/rock songs of all time and secondly the interpersonal turmoil that created all those timeless songs.

The Lindsey Buckingham / Christine McVie project seems no different than any other Fleetwood Mac project. After a 16 year absence, McVie returned to Fleetwood Mac and restored the classic Rumours line up of Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie. The band was even thinking about making their first studio record together since 1987 and it looked like we were finally going to get it. But of course, it wouldn’t be Fleetwood Mac without some type of drama, like Stevie Nicks dropping out of the project to pursue her solo career and go on tour with the Pretenders. Well it isn’t the first time a Mac album was made without a key member and although it might not say Fleetwood Mac on the album sleeve, this is the closest thing we are going to get. In fact, removing themselves from the stigma and drama associated with Fleetwood Mac allowed those collaborators to simply make an entertaining album. This album isn’t going to go down in history as the successor to Rumours, but it is a fun record. You can really see how these four talented entertainers are enjoying themselves throughout which in part adds to the listener’s joy in listening to this album.
