Introduction

The minute that I heard that this sequel was coming out, I wanted to go see it. If you heard our Summer Movie Madness (Part 1) podcast, you would know that I was a big fan of the first movie. I was hoping that the movie did not fall in a sequel but where the storyline is very similar. Let us see if it was any good.

Storyline

This is a non spoiler synopsis of the movie. Basically, our main guys David Bouchard (Patrick Huard) and Martin Ward (Colm Feore) are trying to stop a car theft ring that leads to a weapon that can lead to terroist attacks. It has been quite a few years since these men have seen or worked together. Martin Ward now works for the RCMP and David Bouchard works for the Sûreté du Québec.

Bottomline

I liked it. I think I may have liked it a little more than the first. The story seemed to be a little less cartoony than in the original. Although it started a little slow, I think it picked up really well at the halfway mark.

The comedy is still as good as the first one. Patrick Huard and Colm Feore have a great chemistry on screen and they seem to read off each other really well. The comedy feels genuine and not over the top out of place. It feels like it could happen given the circumstances.

I personally liked the energy of the French comedian Mariana Mazza. If you do not know who she is, she is a feisty, swearing, non conventional stand up. She can be compared to Mike Ward. She plays a great computer genius with a weird side. She plays that role really well.

The rest of the actors in this story are not very memorable. Nothing really stands out of the ordinary. That is fine. It does not take away from the movie.

There is one part of the story that I was not sure what they were going for. It adds little to the plot. When you will see it you will know what I mean.

In the end I think this is a good movie. Again it is able to take French comedy and English humour and mesh them in a way that works for everyone. The local crowd will feel at home here as many of the scenes are filmed in Montreal. You feel for the main characters and the running time was just fine. It ran just a little over 2 hours. It did not seem like forever. I enjoyed the time that I was watching the movie. There were a few times where I laughed out loud. I would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Patrick Huard or a fan of the first Bon Cop, Bad Cop.

Rating: 8.5 arrests out of 10.

Let me know what you think? Am I off base or did you like it as well?
