With the upcoming release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we at Aroundtable want to recap all the films in the most undoubtedly greatest space adventure of all time so as to get you fired up!
STAR WARS Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999)
After a harrowing escape while saving Queen Amidala from an impending invasion on Naboo, Jedi Master, Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi are stranded on the desert planet of Tattoine where the two Jedi come across a nine year old slave boy named, Anakin Skywalker. The force is strong with this boy.
Qui-Gon believes that Anakin is the chosen one who will bring back balance to the Force. In order to win the boy’s freedom, Qui-Gon enters Anakin in a pod-race which Anakin eventually wins. This allows Anakin to leave with Qui-Gon and Obi–Wan to be trained in the ways of the Jedi.
Meanwhile lurking in the shadows, an ancient enemy resurfaces. The Sith are secretly plotting their return as supreme rulers of the galaxy.
If you get past the hokey dialogue and the annoying Jar Jar Binks, Episode I is a light hearted Sci- fi adventure for the whole family. Episode I is a good entry point into the world of Star Wars for young children.
