Avengers: Age of Whedon

May 2, 2015

Josh Whedon began his rise to king of the geeks with shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Firefly. But it wasn’t until the Avengers and its 1.5 billion dollar box office intake, that the rest of world took notice of Whedon as one the masters in the genre of Sci-fi. Now, three years later, Whedon proves without a shadow of a doubt that his success with the Avengers was no fluke. Avengers: Age of Ultron is one of the few sequels that stands toe to toe with its predecessor.

Tony Stark’s (aka Iron Man) peacekeeping program Ultron becomes an artificial life forms that believes the only way to achieve peace in our time, is by destroying mankind. Of course, it is up to earth’s mightiest heroes to stop it.

Avengers: Age of Ultron has loads of action, great special effects, witty banter and of course, a worthy villain to challenge our heroes.

Some people left the theatre saying it didn’t have the comic book feel of the first film. I, for one, relished the fact that it didn’t; making it a more exciting film.

My only complaint however, albeit very minor, was James Spader’s Ultron character. I wish they made him more sinister.  All in all, Whedon can walk away from this franchise with his head held high. Rejoice geeks of the world!

Whedon! Whedon! Whedon!
