Unsung Heroes Part 4: Hellboy (2004)

Over the last few years movies based on comic books have become a huge box office draw, and this trend shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. But that wasn’t always the case. There was a time when movies based on comic books were actually a “gamble” for movie studios. So I would like to dedicate the next couple of reviews to some of those “gambles and or forgotten movies that turned the public’s view around on the comic book phenomena. So here we go some of the unsung heroes that started the global success of comic based movies

.

Guillermo del Toro returns to the comic book world and delivers one of the most visually stunning movies of the genre. At the end of World War II, the Nazis try to turn the tide by conjuring up a demon. Thankfully, the Nazis are stopped and the demon (Hellboy) is raised in America where he and a team of supernatural beings work together to protect the world with the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defence.

Director del Toro created a magical world filled with engaging characters and stunning creatures. No movie had duplicated the style and feel of Hellboy. If you love this genre, you owe it to yourself and see this movie for yourself.
