Here are some of the overlooked action movie gems that deserve more praise or appreciation from the fans.
The Rundown (2003)
Dwayne Johnson plays Beck a "Retrieval Expert" who is hired to travel to South America to bring home his shady boss’ son, Travis (Sean William Scott) back home.
Unfortunately, Travis doesn't want to be caught. He is in pursuit of an artifact, and he doesn't intend to leave before he finds it. Travis isn't the only one after the gold statue. A local bartender/fortune hunter, Mariana (Rosario Dawson), wants it, as does oppressive town operator, Hatcher (Christopher Walken) , who has turned the locals into a slave labor force. So Beck chases Travis while being pursued by Mariana, Hatcher, and Hatcher's goons.
The Rundown has some great action sequences, some good comedic moments and a offers just enough "reluctant buddy" bonding to make for an all-around entertaining film.
While the film underperformed upon its release and has become buried under bigger scale projects, in my opinion, it remains one of Johnsons’ most entertaining films.
