My favorite Record Producers: Quincy Jones

Updated: Nov 21, 2022

One of the true master record producers. Quincy Jones is a veritable hit-producing machine. He knows how to find the right melodies, how to choose the perfect accompaniment and orchestrations, and how to guide the performers and composers.

Essential Listening

1. Michael Jackson- Thriller (1982)- With seven top ten hits, over 60 million units sold, and eight Grammy Awards, Thriller may just be the greatest pop record of all time.

2. We are the World (single) - USA for Africa (1985) - Only Jones could pull together some the world’s most well-known artists in the music industry for a charity single. With sales in excess of 20 million copies, it is the eighth best-selling physical single of all time.

3. Michael Jackson, Bad (1987)- Bad was Michael Jackson’s long-awaited follow-up to Thriller, and as such, the expectations were astronomical. With a historic five consecutive No. 1 singles and sales of an excess of 35 million units, it delivered.
