Not in a particular order, here is a list of some of my favorite or “go-to” modern day Westerns.
Seraphim Falls (2006)
David Von Ancken directs Liam Neeson (Batman Begins, Star Wars: Episode 1 -- The Phantom Menace) and Pierce Brosnan (Bond movies, The Thomas Crown Affair) in this period manhunt drama set against the backdrop of the American Civil War.
Gideon (Pierce Brosnan), a former Union officer, finds himself the prey of a manhunt led by Carver (Liam Neeson), Gideon's Civil-War nemesis.
While the premise is straight forward, the two leads really deliver a very solid performance. Seraphim Falls simply works as a gritty straight-ahead, less-talk, more-action Western.
