The Who: Who (2019)

Updated: Nov 30, 2022

The Who have returned with WHO, their first album of original material in 13 years.

The album is made up of eleven to fourteen tracks depending on which version you get your hands on. The record was produced by Dave Sandy,Bob Pridden ,Dave Ering along with lead guitarist, co-founder and primary songwriter, Pete Townshend.

Although there is no connecting narrative or story that defines the album, Townshend's lyrics (Well past my prime, denying the curtain, wasting no time / I thought I’d be calmer, not rockin’ in rage.” and “Why set a fire you plan to douse?”) reveal an underlying thread of aging and the hereafter.

After numerous listens, the twelfth studio album from The Who is one of their most satisfying listens in decades .Highlights include, the rockers ; All This Music Will Fade, I Don’t Wanna Get Wise, the bluesy; Ball and Chain, the cinematic: Rockin’ In Rage, and the heartfelt ballade: I'll Be Back.

The Who have created a record that sounds fresh ,new , exciting and classic all at the same time. Highly recommended.
