Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation

Tom Cruise reprises his role as Ethan Hunt in the fifth installment of the Mission Impossible series. In a nut shell, Hunt (Cruise) discovers a clandestine “anti-IMF” squad who call themselves, The Syndicate. It seems that the Syndicate are determined to get their hands on an enormous sum of money that will finance their terrorist acts for decades. Hunt and his IMF team members, William Brandt (Jeremy Renner), Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg) & Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames) must join forces with the mysterious and deadly Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Fergusion) in order to stop The Syndicate once and for all.

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation is a fine addition to the nineteen year old franchise, not to mention a huge action-packed summer blockbuster. Although, as good as Rogue Nation is, it does lack the near perfect pace of its predecessor; Ghost Protocol. Somewhere around the half way mark, director Christopher McQuarrie, decides to shift gears and move away from the action and explosions and tries to play up the drama instead. It drags down the momentum of the film that was built up in the first half but you shouldn’t let this minor flaw in the films pacing deter you from seeing Rogue Nation. It’s still great entertainment.
