Leonard Nimoy: Tribute

With the news of the death of Leonard Nimoy, the actor who played Spock on the beloved series Star Trek, it feels like I lost a family member because Star Trek is, was and forever shall be a large part of my life. Of course he did more than this but as far back as I can remember, Star Trek was one of the few series that we all watched together as a family. We bonded together with Star Trek and we considered ourselves the extended crew of the Starship Enterprise.

Maybe it was the idea of exploring strange new worlds, seeking out new life and new civilizations or the dynamic of the crew of the Enterprise that kept us watching. Possibly it was the idea of a more positive view of mankind’s future or it was simply great entertainment….who knows!

Whatever the case may be, Star Trek has been ingrained into my family, and as geeky as that sounds, I think we are all better for it.

Leonard Nimoy was more than Spock, he was part of the family…and I will miss him. He may have played an alien / Vulcan, but Capt. Kirk said it best: “Of my friend, I can only say this…of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most…Human.”

He lived long and we prospered.
